Jill and I want to express our warmest greetings to Muslim communities both in the United States and around the world as they commence the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. This period is one of fasting, reflection, charity, worship, and growth.

As we honor this sacred time, the United States also reiterates its support to Muslim communities facing hardships and devastation. We stand with the people of Turkiye and Syria who recently lost many loved ones due to devastating earthquakes, and with the people of Pakistan who are rebuilding their lives following last summer's floods. Today, we also remember the fundamental human right to peacefully and openly practice, pray, and preach our faiths. Together with our partners, we stand in solidarity with Muslims who continue to face oppression, such as the Uyghurs in the People's Republic of China, Rohingya in Burma, and other Muslim communities experiencing persecution worldwide.

During this holy month, we recognize and honor Muslim communities throughout our nation who have contributed to the American story since our country's inception. Muslim Americans have made significant contributions to various fields, including science and technology, arts and academia, law and medicine, business and government, and more. Generation after generation, Muslim Americans continue to enrich the diverse tapestry of our nation.

Today, let us come together across cultures and faiths and reaffirm our commitment to creating a more just, tolerant, and compassionate society. To my fellow Americans observing Ramadan and to Muslims worldwide, we wish you a blessed and peaceful Ramadan. Ramadan Kareem.
