The Indiana Hoosiers had a memorable basketball season in 2023, but unfortunately, they did not win a national title. Despite this disappointment, th

ere is still plenty to celebrate and be proud of as an Indiana fan.

The Hoosiers finished the regular season with a record of 25-6, earning them a No. 4 seed in the NCAA tournament. They advanced to the Sweet 16, but were ultimately knocked out by a tough Michigan team in a close game.

While falling short of a national championship is always disappointing, Indiana’s performance this season should be seen as a success. After all, they made significant strides from the previous year, when they finished with a record of just 15-15 and failed to qualify for the NCAA tournament.

One of the biggest reasons for Indiana’s improvement this season was the emergence of sophomore guard Jordan Geronimo. Geronimo showed tremendous growth and potential, averaging 15.5 points per game and providing clutch performances in key moments.

The Hoosiers also benefited from the leadership and consistency of senior forward Trayce Jackson-Davis. Jackson-Davis averaged 18.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, and was named to the All-Big Ten first team.

Indiana’s success this season should also be credited to head coach Mike Woodson, who took over the program in April 2022. Woodson, a former NBA player and coach, brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team, and was able to help the Hoosiers make significant improvements on both ends of the court.

Despite the success of this season, the future of Indiana basketball remains uncertain. Jackson-Davis is set to graduate, and there are questions about the status of Geronimo and other key players on the roster. Additionally, the landscape of college basketball is always changing, with new recruits and coaching changes happening every year.

However, with the leadership of Woodson and the potential of players like Geronimo, there is reason to be optimistic about the future of Indiana basketball. Whether or not they win a national championship in the coming years, the Hoosiers have shown that they are a team to be reckoned with, and that they have the talent and determination to compete at the highest level.
